He swore he was done. But war has a long memory. Mitch Greenfield was once the best in the business. But he walked away for good, trading a blood-soaked life for Rocky Mountain serenity and a promise to the woman he loves. When a ghost from his past resurfaces, Mitch must choose between his promise and the debt he owes. But things aren’t what they seem, and Mitch soon finds himself hunted by an FBI task force and killer GRU Spetsnaz as he races to stop the Russians from obtaining the plans for a terrifying new weapon. As bonds are tested and oaths are broken, an ever-growing body count shatters the peace in Colorado. Trapped at the storm’s epicenter, Mitch will need all his skills to survive and stop the Russians from getting the weapon.

A great thriller with a well-developed plot and strong characters
“A Debt of Honor is a fast-paced thriller set initially in the mountains of Colorado. The plot is tightly woven, filled with action, suspense, and just the right number of unexpected twists to keep you turning the pages. The characters are well-developed without being overly complex, making it easy to connect with them while still being intrigued by their motivations. It’s an engaging, quick read with a compelling storyline that holds your attention from start to finish. I highly recommend it to fans of thrillers and casual readers alike.”

This author is the REAL DEAL
“Speaking from personal experience, Mr. Andrewes is the real deal and writes from real word experiences most of us can only fantasize about. I both served in Army Special Ops and as a nuclear security consultant with the author and can assure you he knows the subject. Even though I had high expectations, he outdid himself with this one. This was a page-turner in the first sense. I finished the book in about 4 days as I couldn’t stop reading! Well done Tor!!”

Infused with Experience-Based Realism
“A Debt of Honor is a fast-paced military thriller infused with realism that is often lacking in similar novels. As the plot unfolds, tension–and the body count–steadily rise. But the violence is anything but gratuitous: The stakes are high, not only for the protagonist but also for the United States. Beyond the well-rendered action sequences, the author strikes a good balance between driving the story forward and providing ample backstory; he explains the characters’ rare expertise and leads readers to understand and (apart from the villains) to sympathize with their motivations. This balance is no easy feat and is usually missing in this genre, which tends to emphasize breakneck pace and to sacrifice adequate elaboration, probably for fear (usually unjustified, I think) of disengaging readers. I also like the fact that the ending isn’t a cliffhanger but still keeps open the possibility for a sequel, which I’ll be eager to read.”

A phenomenal debut! Exciting, grounded, and detailed.
“A Debt of Honor is an exciting thriller that balances fast-paced action with interesting mystery. The attention to detail in many parts of the story clearly draws on the authors real experience. Subtle things characters do that most people wouldn’t think about stand out if you have similar experience and further highlight that the author and these characters are the real deal. The story leaves enough detail to let you put pieces together yourself while also weaving in some twists to keep you in your toes. I could hardly put the book down after I started reading, I would have never guessed this was Tor Andrewes’ first published work. I’m excited to see more of his work!”

Great read from a first time author!
“Been looking forward to reading this book for a long while since I have been friends with the author since we served together in the Army 35 years ago! I really enjoyed the pace of the book, no lulls in the action while reading. Obviously he knows his equipment, all good there. Good character development, easy to root for the brooding main character. I was happy to see there was no jerk character in the book that made me think “He based that character on me!” BONUS! Looking forward to the next chapter in the series!”

A Quiet Tribute in Fiction
“Reading A Debt of Honor feels like sitting down with someone who has lived it all — and lived it well. The characters are drawn with a rare precision, their convictions sharp enough to cut through the noise, yet tempered by the weight of their own doubts and fears. It is in this tension — between certainty and hesitation — that the story’s heart beats strongest. Although surely fictional, these characters feel like both an homage to and a critique of the real-life figures who must have crossed the writer’s path over the course of his own life and career. That dual lens — respect laced with clear-eyed honesty — breathes a rare kind of truth into the story, making the world on the page pulse with authenticity. What sets this work apart is the way Andrewes captures the quiet moments — the unshakable calm that comes not from detachment, but from having walked through the noise and chaos and learned to breathe steadily within it. It’s a calm you can’t invent; it’s remembered, felt, and carried from another life. His characters bear it like an invisible badge of honor, and he renders it with a grace that makes it feel utterly real. This is more than a novel; it’s a map of a certain kind of life. For those who have known it, the familiarity will be both unsettling and comforting. For those who haven’t, it’s a rare and generous glimpse inside.”

Fantastic debut
“It’s clear from the beginning that the author is a master of the subject matter. His character building and a spy-craft kept me turning the pages I cannot wait for the next book in the series”
